Heretics of the Truth

Spirit Seed Book

When I wrote The Spirit Seed I fully expected to polarize people. I know my rock and roll “lefty” friends would ignore the subject altogether and my fundamentalist relatives would banish me to the barn with the black sheep. In days gone by the church may have considered me a heretic and maybe even burned me at the stake.

The great thing about true heretics is that they don’t care. I’m not concerned about my legacy and don’t have anything I have to prove to anyone. I only want to reveal truth. When it comes to “Spiritual” ideas and beliefs you have to express what has been revealed to you “in spirit”. This is where we get the word inspired from. So inspired writing is what I bring to you. You are the reader of thoughts so profound, that I actually take time out of my busy life to share them.

It’s a tricky balance for me because a songwriter, it’s easy to camouflage feelings and ideals in cryptic, poetic lyrics. Songwriters have a license to create mental images that are accompanied by rhythms and melodies. Some of these are the stories that reflect the lives of others, some are real life experiences and others fabrications or contrived situations. Music is always interpreted by the listener and meanings can be hidden or blatantly exploited.

When you blog or write books you open yourself up for attack. If you have a message people don’t want to hear, there’s power in not caring what anyone thinks. But if you aren’t serving others then you’re likely motivated by the wrong reasons.

I am inspired to create and serve. To me, it’s about finding the big truth and standing up for it, no matter what.

John Lennon sings “You say you want a revolution, well you know . . . we all want to change the world”. Does everyone want to change the world?
Does everyone want a revolution? Maybe we use the word revolution too loosely because real revolutions require sacrifice.

How many of us are really sacrificing?

How many of us choose to follow the crowds instead of volunteering ourselves to the things that really matter?

My overall purpose as a creative, compassionate human being, is far more important than any material things. Einstein said “Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow. The important thing is not to stop questioning.” Writing is a form of question and answer. We study, we process, we compile and edit. The result is a new understanding.

My hope is that you take this information and question the heck out of it. Then take a stand of your own and open up your heart to humanity. Your spiritual life matters. It matters to you and it matters to your creator. These days we no longer have to worry about being burned at the stake, we just have to put up with comment spam.
